Our review

The first thing you notice is the striking rosewood body, contrasted with the vibrant pearl inlay. And then you hear the richness and clarity of its tone. No wonder Rosewood is one of the most popular tonewoods!

The Bondi Rosewood Kalimba (also known as a finger piano) brings the beautiful tone of Rosewood into your hands quite literally. The beveled edges and polished tines give you a comfortable and natural feeling Kalimba. Once you pick this up you won't be able to put it down!

You'll be able to keep your Kalimba protected as it sits comfortably in the included plush lined foamcore case. The case is big enough to provide thorough protection, but light enough to take it with you wherever you go.

Rose Wood Kalimba

Beatiful looking instrument - the dark wood with the shell inlay looks impressive.
I'm new to the Kalimba so I can't comment on the quality of the sound but its fun to play and should i bore with my attempts to play an instrument, it'll always look great with my other wooden collectables.
Love that it should come accessorised with a quality carry case and tuning hammer.
One less star is because (I felt) the adjoining timber where the metal attached
to the tines sits on, looks cheap in comparison to the timber in the body of the instrument. This just a cosmetic comment.

Looks gorgeous. Easy to fathom out. Australia Post let you down really badly, it took so long to get here

Beautiful sound and look

Lovely to hold, beautiful to look at, rich unique sound, and so much fun to play!
And it has 'proper' notes, unlike my many other finger pianos.
I bought the 2nd one for a superb musician who is recovering from a stroke and has had trouble with strength and dexterity on guitar.
He plays the Kalimba with ease.

Bondi Rosewood kalimba

Beautiful instrument. I bought one for each of my partner’s two daughters as my daughter was so impressed with hers. They received them yesterday and were learning songs immediately. Beautiful sound. Good for relaxing and distracting from worries as well as brain training

FAQ

Yes! The Kalimba is one of the easiest instruments to learn. Unlike the piano which has many keys and complex scales to learn, the basics of the kalimba can be learnt really quickly. It's an instrument that can be learnt without prior musical experience. On the other hand, someone with musical experience may well be playing simple melodies within minutes of picking it up. The beauty of this instrument is that it sounds beautiful, no matter who is playing it.

Yes it is. Also known as a mbira or thumb piano, the Kalimba orginated in Africa around 3000 years ago. At the time African tribes were in need of a portable instrument to play while walking. Whilst we may not walk and play the Kalimba these days, the portability of this instrument is a big reason for its popularity.
